Quick Guide for New Staff

1. Your staff ID card – CU Link Card
New appointees should submit a completed application form for CU Link (Staff Card) to the CU Link Card Centre (Room 804, 8/F, Wu Ho Man Yuen (WMY) Building) upon assumption of duty. The CU Link (Staff Card) will be ready for collection after the appointment is certified as effective by Department/Unit. Also, don’t forget to get your PIN through the CU Link Default PIN Enquiry System.
2. Your Account – OnePass (CWEM) Account
Get the Computing Account Information (CAI) Slip (How?) to enjoy different IT services e.g. email, WiFi, MyCUHK and many other University systems. You should change your password regularly.
3. Get your University Email, Cloud Storage & Microsoft 365
Access your mailbox at CUHK Microsoft 365 http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/o365. Check out our user guides about the use on different devices.

  • Define your email address here in form of alias@cuhk.edu.hk.
  • Update your profile profile which is viewable to all staff in Microsoft 365 or Global Address List e.g. display name, email address and contact phone.

You can get 5 TB free cloud storage and download the latest Microsoft 365 Apps in CUHK Microsoft 365.

4. Enable 2-factor authentication (2FA)
You must enable 2FA to enhance the security of your account. Enroll your account and designated mobile device (e.g. your mobile phone, tablet) via the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Self-Service User Portal.
5. MyCUHK/CUSIS and University Applications
MyCUHK serves as a personal portal to a wide range of services and websites in CUHK. It also provides the primary entrance to CUSIS services.
6. Protect Your Device – Install Free Anti-Virus Software
Never disclose or share your password to anyone and be alert to phishing emails and fraud websites. You can also enjoy a free copy of Kaspersky Anti-Virus software from us!
7. Stay online on and off Campus
You have free WiFi Service on campus with your OnePass account. Also, you can register to get the Off-campus WiFi service now! Use CUHK VPN / SSL VPN to access restricted websites e.g. Download Free Anti-virus software, Access to CUPIS, etc.
8. Save your money- Get Free Software and Check Discounted Notebooks
Install, whereas applicable, MS Office 365 Apps, video-editing, statistical and anti-virus software at Free for your PC / Mac. Besides, check special discounts of notebooks, software and computing accessories between mid-August and mid-October.
9. Online Teaching, Learning and Meeting
Various systems and tools (such as Blackboard, Panopto, etc) are available to support your teaching. Check it out at eLearning@CUHK ! Online classes or meetings are held via Zoom / Teams . To meeting teaching needs,  Virtual Desktop Service is available to support SAS/SPSS/MATLAB teaching needs.
