SharePoint Online

SharePoint Online provides departments a free cloud storage of up to 50GB (Note: Starting from July 2026, SharePoint site service will be charged. The subscription fee will be HK$150/year for 50GB of storage.) and it is

  • Good for sharing files within or across departments  (such as university committees)
  • Good for archiving committees records with easy access control
  • Will be protected by proper permission assignment

Q: What is the storage quota of a SharePoint site?

A: By default, we will provide 10GB initially. When 80% storage is used, site admin can request extra storage. Free storage is up to 50GB. Extra storage may subject to charge if Microsoft starts to charge us.

Q: How to change the SharePoint site administrator?

A: Please contact ITSC via ServiceDesk if the department contact person/other contact staff/authorized staff in this form needs to be changed. If you want to manage site owner/site member/site visitor, please visit the section “Manage site permissions” here.
