Size Restriction on each Message (including attachments): 25MB

For Students,

• Mailbox Valid until: student account expiry + 30 days, except opted-in for alumni email service
• Display Name: Your name in CUSIS
• Default Email Address: Student-ID@link.cuhk.edu.hk
• Set up your email alias:
  • Set up a unique, unchangeable alias email address that is easier to remember. This will serve as an alternative email address to your Student-ID@link.cuhk.edu.hk;
  • Your alias email address will show in the “From” field, while it actually being sent from your @link address.

<During the M365 storage change transition period, please note the following important changes starting Jun 2025.  For details, please read: Update on M365 storage for Alumni.>

1. Alumni email storage is limited to 2GB only.  An Online Archive (In-Place Archive) mailbox is available for storing older emails.  Emails older than 2 years will automatically move to this archive.
2. OneDrive is no longer available for all alumni from 16 Dec 2025.

Graduates can opt in CUHK @Link Alumni Email Service after graduation.

Service will be automatically available 1 working day after the opt-in.

Note: ITSC will send an email reminder about your student account expiry before your graduation. Your mailbox  could be kept only if you complete the steps below before your Microsoft services are expired.

Opt-in Procedures Before Graduation

• Students who become CUHK alumni in 90 days can complete the opt in procedures before graduation in order to retain the emails
• One must have alias for @Link defined before the opt-in

Opt-in Procedures After Graduation

ITSC supports the online opt-in process while Alumni Affairs Office supports the service for alumni.

ITSC had coordinated and communicated with the student organization account users in 2017 to prepare for the switchover from the old email email, CUHK Webmail, to @Link. The switchover exercise included

1. An @Link mailbox was offered to the student organization with other cloud services e.g. OneDrive, and collaborative tools available for students.
2. A new email address = alias@link.cuhk.edu.hk (if defined) / computing-id@link.cuhk.edu.hk was created, which was also the reply-to email address / sender email address.
3. Student organizations could use computing-id@link.cuhk.edu.hk & OnePass password to log in @Link mailbox.
4. If student organization had defined email address as alias@cuhk.edu.hk which was published in different publications, to avoid email loss, any new emails reaching that email address would be forwarded to @Link. However, in a long term, those student organization should publish their new email address alias@link.cuhk.edu.hk instead.
5. If student organization had never defined its email address i.e. email address = computing-id@cuhk.edu.hk, it became invalid on 3 Jan 2018.
