ResNet (Student Hostel Network) is managed by the respective student hostel management with technical support from ITSC. The network equipment in the following student hostels was introduced in 2009 and requires an upgrade to meet a high speed connection need in rooms.
Chung Chi College Student Hostels
New Asia College Student Hostels
United College Student Hostels
Shaw College Student Hostels
Madam S.H. Ho Hostel for Medical Students
With advances in technology, an in-room wifi service and an enhanced backend connection will be introduced this summer to provide a faster and more reliable Internet connection at these student hotels.
Serving User Groups
This upgrade will greatly improve user experience to enjoy a high speed and reliable Internet connection with
1. A better In-room wifi solution
Under current wifi setup in student hostels, the speed is 300Mbps for 4-6 rooms shared use. And the new in-room wifi is 300Mbps for one room in which connection speed has greatly been improved.
2. Enhanced backend connection
A significant improvement from 1 x 1 Gigabit Ethernet link (current) to 2 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet (new) links connect from student hostels to the campus network. And the two new links are for both eliminating bottle neck and backup purpose.
