(Resumed) Campus Network & Service Interruption During 30 Sep – 1 Oct 2018

Cause The root cause of why the primary link failed is being investigated by our Internet Service Providers.
Service Affected Campus network was unstable and users might therefore experience failure in accessing some University systems intermittently. Remedies have been taken to stabilize the service.
Status Service resumed.
Actions Summary
  • Immediate remedial actions had been taken to resume the service. Announcements were made through ITSC homepage and ITSC Facebook.
  • The primary link has once been shut down to allow our Internet Service Providers to troubleshoot their settings. This caused us at the risk of using only backup link for Internet services.
  • A maintenance work was completed on 12 Oct 3:00am – 6:00 am to reconnect to the primary link. The Campus Network is now connected to the Internet with both the primary and backup link for network resilience.
