[Action Required] Update Your Duo Mobile App BEFORE 2 Feb 2026
Users Affected All Staff and Students using the DUO Mobile App
Update by date 2 Feb 2026 (Mon)
Cause Duo Security updates its root certificate authority
Your Action
  1. Ensure the OS of your mobile device is a Duo supported version – Android 11.0 or later and iOS 16.0 or later.
  2. Check your Duo Mobile App version:
  • Open Duo Mobile App
  • Tap the three-line menu in the top left.
  • Check the version display at the bottom of the screen.
  • No action is required if your version is 4.85.0 or later.  (Example here: 4.103.0 is a later version than 4.85.0)

 

3.What happens if your Duo Mobile App version is below 4.85.0?

  • Starting 8 Jan 2026, version below 4.85.0 will display“Update Recommended” after you complete 2-factor authentication.
  • Update your Duo App through Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).

 

Service Affected If you do not update before 2 Feb 2026, you cannot sign in to Duo-enabled services such as M365, MyCUHK/CUSIS, CUPIS, Blackboard, etc.
