MATLAB and Simulink

Through the MATLAB Campus-wide License agreement between CUHK and MathWorks, University staff and students can now access to the software and associated documentation. The Campus-Wide License permits the installation of MATLAB and Simulink covering analysis, design, modeling, simulation, code generation, and testing products on campus-managed and user-owned computers.

Campus-wide license to MATLAB, Simulink, and a full suite of companion toolboxes is now available.

Staff and students are covered by the campus-wide license and can install software on their home or laptop computers.

Access Instructions:

  1. Go to CUHK’s MATLAB Portal
  2. Click “Sign In to Get Started” in the “Get MATLAB and Simulink” section.
  3. Authenticate yourself through CUHK Login.

    Login with your email address in form of

    • Student: student-id@link.cuhk.edu.hk
    • Staff: alias@cuhk.edu.hk

    Password: OnePass password

  4. After a successful login, you will be asked to create or sign in a MathWorks Account.
  5. Once you do that, you will be associated to our MATLAB license and will be able to:
    • Download the software
    • Start using MATLAB Online from a web browser
    • Access online training courses and its FAQs

Download, Install and Activate:

  1. Follow the Access Instruction to login CUHK’s MATLAB Portal
  2. Click the download button for the current release. (Previous releases are also available).
  3. Choose a supported platform and download the installer.
  4. Run the installer.
  5. In the installer, select Log in with a MathWorks Account (requires an Internet connection) and follow the online instructions.
  6. When prompted to do so, select the Academic – Total Headcount license labeled Individual.
  7. Select the products you want to download and install.
  8. After downloading and installing your products, keep the Activate MATLAB checkbox selected and click Next.
  9. Follow the prompts to activate MATLAB.

Departments can arrange installation in University managed devices (such as computer labs). Please obtain the required media and license key for R2022a Update 2/R2021a/R2020a/R2019a by completing the MATLAB Network License Request Form online.
