    ITSC will perform a maintenance on CUHK Login Service from Saturday, 30 Sep 7pm to Sunday, 1 Oct 1pm. During the maintenance window, some central IT services including email, SharePoint and several application systems will not be available for access. Please find a list of affected services in the announcement page.

    The following are the frequently asked questions during the maintenance period.

    1. Will my email be lost during the maintenance window?

    You will not be able to login to email system during the maintenance window. However, emails sent to you during the maintenance will still be able to go into your mailbox and you can read them after the maintenance is complete.

    1. I am not able to access a system during the maintenance but I don’t see it listed on the unavailable list. What should I do?

    The listed unavailable systems are centrally managed by ITSC. Other affected systems managed by your department are not listed here. Please contact your IT staff for details. However, if the system is managed by ITSC, please report it to ITSC Service Desk or call 39438845.

    1. When will the services be resumed? Where can I find the information?

    1. Can I forward my Office 365 Mail/@Link emails to other account so that I can still read my emails?

    Yes, you may set email forwarding in O365 Mail/@Link before the maintenance begins. Click here for instructions. Don’t forget to resume the setting after the maintenance.

    1. Will Blackboard be affected during the maintenance?

    No. The new Blackboard system (http://blackboard.cuhk.edu.hk) will still be accessible via OnePass login and MyCUHK during the maintenance period.

    1. Can I still access documents on OneDrive and SharePoint?

    No. OneDrive and SharePoint will NOT be available for access during the maintenance period. You will only be able to access the documents after the maintainence.

    1. Can I still change my OnePass password?

    No. Change password function will NOT be accessible during the maintenance period. Please proceed with your change after the maintenance.

    1. Can I still change my e-mail alias?

    No. Change e-mail alias function will NOT be accessible during the maintenance period. You will only be able to change it after the maintenance.

    1. Can I still use the desktop PCs in my office or lab?

    Some desktop PCs may be inaccessible, such as the PCs in User Areas and Learning Commons, during the maintenance period. Please check with your department IT staff for confirmation.

    1. Will ITSC User Areas and Learning Commons still be open?

    The User Area in 1/F Pi Chiu Building will be closed from 30 Sep 3pm to 3 Oct 8:45am.

    The Learning Commons in 6/F WMY Building will still be open. You need to bring your own devices for computing work as all PCs are inaccessible. When required, please contact your devices to wi-fi service using SSID= CUHK/CUHKa/eduroam/Universities via CSL/Universities via Y5ZONE.

    All Library services that required login will be affected. Please visit Library website for details.

    1. I am a CUHK1x user. How can I access to WiFi service during the maintenance?

    CUHK1x is the only SSID that inaccessible during the maintenance period. You can still connect to on-campus WiFi by selecting other alternative SSIDs i.e. CUHK/CUHKa/eduroam/Universities via CSL/Universities via Y5ZONE .     1. Will VPN be affected?

    No. You can connect to VPN as usual.

    1. Can I still use the computing devices at College/Student Hostel/Postgraduate Hall Computer Laboratories?

    If you use your email address (student_id @link.cuhk.edu.hk / name @cuhk.edu.hk) and OnePass (CWEM) password to login these systems, you would not be able to use these computer facilities during the CUHK Login Maintenance period. Please contact your computer laboratory administrators for details.
