RAS (Registration and Attendance System) performance will degrade under a heavy workload.

    Next Heavy Workload Period:

    13 Jan 2017 (Friday)  11:00 – 13:00

[Reminder] Please use only one device to login. Simultaneously login with multiple devices will introduce an extraordinary workload and cause a degrade of system performance.

    Background:

RAS is generally providing instant response under normal workload.

Its performance, however, will greatly degrade under a heavy workload. This happens in some large-scale college assembly registration. Users would experience a prolong waiting time or a very slow response of the system.

    Follow up:

A fix has previously applied to resolve the heavy workload issue arising from last Sep. A number of load test showed an improved performance with a higher throughput. However, the actual performance on 9 Jan college assembly registration with a service disruption was not acceptable. Remedial action has been applied in fixing the issue.

The system is still under a close monitoring during event registration period. We will continue fixing the issue and target to provide a reliable and quality service.
